The Antarctic Biodiversity Portal was invited by the Portugese Polar Program – ProPolar to give a talk on “Biodiversity informatics for Polar Regions – how to transform data into knowledge” at the Encontro ciência 2016.
“Ciência 2016 is an annual meeting , open to the entire scientific community , for the presentation and discussion of the main topics, findings and issues present in international debate and featuring the scientific and technological activity in Portugal .
The meeting will reflect the main issues and challenges that guide the activity of the Portuguese scientific community , bringing together researchers and guests from different spheres of society on a broad and plural debate.”
In addition to this presentation there were v
aluable discussion regarding setting up a National Antarctic Data Centre in the context of SCAR’s Antarctic Master Directory.
